Saving over 400 hours per month with EDI Integration.

Client

Dutch headquartered, European consolidator encompassing sea & air freight, road & rail transport, warehousing, customs, and brokerage service. The company implemented CargoWise One ERP nine years go.

Problem

1

For consolidators, providing visibility and shipment information to the multiple customers whose cargo form the main container-load is challenging, resulting in difficulty managing the shipment lifecycle of customers.

Although the company’s clients were on Cargowise, the E2E connection was not working as the data was not being transferred from the console to the shipment. This resulted in duplicate data entry on both the systems as well as the need for extra manpower, errors in data entry and increased time is taken.

2

The company was extending its footprint to France where the local custom’s system is SOGET – AP+.  Maintaining the time-bound requirements of filing the messages with customs proved to be a tedious process. Additionally, the need arose to overcome the manual data entry and time spent on two systems for customs and forwarding.

Solution

SFL’s proprietary software “SFLMiddleware” was implemented to overcome both limitations. This enabled a complex 2 way EDI transfer system to solve the challenges of software non-compatibility. In the case of its consolidation business, the company was able to integrate and automate tasks with its customers, easily enabling timely data transmission.

For the customs integration, SFL worked closely with the customer to understand their operational requirements and studied the customs compliance framework to map out an integration process. This enabled the customer to send messages directly from Cargowise in a single cycle. The system integration was enabled with a single sign off for port messaging into SORGET-AP +  through CargoWise One.
